About Mexico / Nuu Davii

In the Mixtec language, Ñuu Davii means People of the Rain — a fitting name for the Mixtec community in Sierra Mazateca, Oaxaca. Their ancestors fled the highlands nearly 500 years ago to escape Spanish conquest, building a new life — and eventually, a new community — in these mountains.

For generations, Mixtec farmers have grown coffee alongside fruit and timber trees. It’s a way of farming that protects the plants, sustains the soil, and keeps the ecosystem alive. They also grow milpa — beans, corn, squash, and chili — strengthening both their land and their livelihoods.

Since 2021, our importer Ensambles has worked with the Mixtec producers, sharing sustainable farming knowledge and ensuring every farmer is paid fairly for quality.
